An orchestral conductor, Edouard-Axel Moubachir built his
relationship with conducting from within instrumental practice
itself. A violinist of the highest level — concertmaster and
soloist —, he performed for several years on national and
international stages, developing an exacting relationship with the
musical text, with the quality of sound, with collective listening
and with the breathing of the phrase. This foundational experience
now nourishes an approach to conducting that is at once precise,
sensitive and deeply embodied.

Driven by the desire to deepen his relationship with the
architecture of works and the building of the orchestral sound, he
trained in conducting in Paris and New York with Maestro Mark
Shapiro. In this context, he notably conducted the Fort Greene
Orchestra in New York — an experience that further strengthened his
international artistic grounding. This decisive step allowed him to
affirm a musical thinking founded on the clarity of gesture, the
coherence of discourse, the shaping of timbres and a constant
attention to the orchestra's inner balances. His work as a conductor
is distinguished by an attentive and structured reading of the
repertoire, combined with an unceasing search for expressive
density.

For Edouard-Axel Moubachir, conducting is not merely about
coordinating: it is about bringing forth a living, organic and
shared interpretation, in which precision, breath and collective
listening converge into a true musical experience. As an extension
of this vision, he founded the Ensemble Monceau, of which he is the
Music and Artistic Director. He is also a Guest Artist of the
European American Musical Alliance (EAMA) since 2008, and the
Ensemble Monceau was chosen in 2026 as the Instrumental Conducting
Lab Ensemble of its conducting program.

Edouard-Axel Moubachir conceives the orchestral experience as a
space of rigor, of deep exploration of the repertoire and of
collective momentum, where stylistic precision, sonic coherence and
expressive intensity arise from shared musical responsibility. It
is this conception that he puts into practice at the head of the
Ensemble Monceau, and that he brings today to the Ensemble
Symphonique de la Banque de France (AABF), which he was appointed
to create and lead in November 2025: recruiting the musicians,
building the ensemble culture, and shaping its artistic direction.
